Whoever you support, make sure you get out and vote on this general election day.

Was up early as I decided at the last minute to change my outfit for the Christmas work do - so a bit of rummaging in drawers and quick guerrilla ironing (towel on floor). Change of jewellery plan too so ended up running a bit late. Dave still ill with his cough and cold but he refuses to take the day off.

Went to the polling station on the way to the station - quite busy with small queues at each desk. Still darkish with sparrows chirping in the bushes. Got into work quite late at 9.30 and most people were already in. I perched in between the others and just checked emails for most of the hour and a half we had before the team meeting.

Did our Secret Santa before the team meeting on the comfy chairs in the canteen - good result, I got a Sipsmith gin cocktails book (somebody had been to Book People when they came to the office). Bit of a rushed team meeting rushed with highlights of the year. Barely had time to put on my out of office and tried to send a last-minute email before a mad rush to get my glittery jacket and glittery necklace on in the loo before we went for the bus.

Out into the drizzly day but not cold as we waited for the number 3 to Kennington for our Christmas do at the Tommyfield where we'd gone 2 years ago and had a good time. Food was good though I lusted after all the gravy, veg and trimmings that came with the more trad Christmas dinner options. Smoked salmon and quail's eggs, seabass and mash, sticky toffee pudding - all very good but no mince pies contrary to the menu. Drink-wise, a rude cosmopolitan (with tequila instead of vodka), a couple of glasses of wine and a margarita. The waiters were not that with it though - and there was a bit of a kerfuffle with the bill where they'd charged us the more expensive price for the set menu (we'd specifically come at the earlier time to get the cheaper price).

Stayed around for a bit drinking and chatting and drinking a terrible cup of tea. Emily and I got hungry again and went to Happy Family for a Vietnamese - sharing a salt and pepper chilli squid, prawn dim sum and a prawny vermicelli thing - plus some jasmine tea. Served by a chatty white bloke who told us he'd voted Conservative. Walked to Vauxhall to catch a very busy Victoria line train home.

Went to bed early keeping an eye on the news waiting for the exit polls. When these came in, they were appalling. A done deal. Watched the news feed for a bit until midnight then gave up and put my head down. Heavy rain in the night.

Oh Ayla big fave for this slice of life! Fabulous! I was up early this morning to do a b&b breakfast, went back to bed until 10am so I would be able to last out the night. I love watching it all tonight!
