The Thursday Murder Club

On one of my online forays into Waterstones, I was persuaded to buy this. I took a while to warm to it despite all the glittering praise heaped on it. But I did eventually. It's possible future books in the series will grow on me more as you invest in the characters - if they live that long. A tale of gutsy septua/octogenarian sleuthing with a sense of humour and a fair bit of poignancy.

Back at work after the long weekend and as predicted bitterly cold. Colleagues in the Midlands reported snow showers and Dave came home red and raw.

Busy at work with more inducting of my new staff member and my end of year review, the latter all good.

Smoked salmon and scrambled egg supper and Anne with an E shortly.

In sadder news, the father out of Friday Night Dinner has died of a brain tumour, only in his fifties.

I listened to it on Audible- took me a while to concentrate fully but I did enjoy it by the end. Very compassionate I thought. We had another few flakes here - have to go out to check it isn’t blossom!

Is this good...I did read a bit if it as a sample in my Kindle but could think whether to persevere & buy it...didn’t just rock my boat but could be persuaded!

@judithg yes compassionate a good word.

@happypat well it took me a while to really engage with it, but I got there in the end.

I bought that for my Ed but don't think he's read it yet. He's a big fan of Pointless, even dragging me to see it being filmed, so thought he may like the book.
Hope keeping warm!

I do like Richard Osman, but imagine that anything he writes might be far too intelligent for me. It’s a thought though...

Not sure that I knew he was an author. We love his BBC 2 quiz, house of games, well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already!
