Cotswold Outdoor catalogue moment

A tradition we always used to have of posing as if for a spread in the Cotswold Outdoor catalogue.

Dave managed a run first thing and we had a muesli, toasty breakfast before hitting Beeston high street. Quite busy. Looked at a few charity shops and the Oxfam bookshop. Picked up more bread from the organic shop and some luscious huge strawberries from Fred Hallam.

Got back to find Sophie making us packed lunches for our walk. Drove to Birchover for an old fave of a walk over Stanton Moor. Rather a stress position drive though with Dave, me and P in the back of the car. Felt a bit headachey and sick towards the end. But the walk cleared that.

Walked through the village - very nice with its 2 pubs - and up through a steep woodland path, along a small road and onto the moor. P and Dave couldn't resist climbing up the Cork Stone - I tried, but my arms weren't up to it.

Walked a bit further amazed at the sight of many rhododendron bushes among the heather - including a deep dell full of them. Bit invasive they are. Stopped for our packed lunch of lentil cakes with cheese and tomato and the huge strawberries.

Back to Birchover via the Nine Maidens standing stones. Looked much smaller than I remember - and we sat on all of them to try and get pregnant. Or that was the silly tradition that I think we made up when we were a lot younger (and sillier). The picnicking youngster in the middle didn't know what to make of it. Lots of people around - it's much more well-known and popular now.

Over the moor some more in glorious warm sunshine back to Birchover. On the way back, dropped off my melodeon with Theo so he could service it.

More nibbles and gin and tonics when we got back as dinner was prepared. Lots of nice Ottolenghi - aubergines with anchovies, crispy overn roasted sweet potatoes chips and sea bass. Plus stewed pears for pud.

Played Tesselations and laughed like a drain (what is that all about?).

Matt Hancock finally resigned.

Haha. My son does his ‘magazine model’ pose every time we try to take a photo of him. This is very funny.
