@phil_sandford My husband was here for a year in 1989, and I travelled regularly from West Germany via the transit route through East Germany to visit. We were both studying German at university at that time. We were fortunate to experience Berlin during the amazing time in which people from the East were allowed to start to visit the West, and of course the Wall fell during that time too. the best time for me was being there the day that the crowds forced their way through the wall at the Brandenburg Gate, and I suddenly found myself between its huge pillars. I love to go back there.
