Bell tower & clock by filsie65

Bell tower & clock

Not very exciting, but as it had featured in some of my shots before from afar (eg 5.9 & 11.10) thought I should include a shot at some point - and it wasn't raining today! The clock is thought to be a Tompion... it only has an hour hand so you can squint and see I took the photo when it was getting towards 4pm! At the top right is a gargoyle, and top left is a rain gulley sticking out. The window at the top is the bell chamber where the bells ring out - the folks pull the ropes in the chamber below, behind the clock after going up umpteen steps on the spiral staircase...
The change in colour half-way up is because the sun was shining on the top half. Another reason to remember it!
Terrific shot - love the uncluttered background and the texture is marvellous!

Lovely looking Church tower. I passed your neck of the woods today on my way to Nottingham (by train).

Great shot. Love the division between the parts in the sun and shade.

what an interesting old tower. Love the texture and I love gargoyles, they just add so much character.
