Such a mad day yesterday - why I thought the holidays might be relaxing I don't know! George massacred a CD for a school project and I kept this little bit as seemed so colourful. I understand about light refraction and rainbows, just not how it applies to the surface of a cd!
Took this first thing today - loving the colours and shine and thinking I should grab a shot quickly - knowing it will be even more manic than yesterday..
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my Coco's cat's eyes..in all the chaos it is lovely to find friendly messages! :)
@boogie Thanks! Um... what is an abstract exactly?! Didn't realise I'd done one!! I've found the discussion and added the link, should I post it on the thread as well?
Wiki says that "Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world."
So, I'd say anything which looks arty but doesn't have obvious shape/form is an abstract! :)
that's pretty - those droplets on CDs are always gorgeous rainbow colours - I did this back last September as part of some work with students, and one of them has just printed his version off as part of his final project.
I was messing around with CD shots last year and used one for a rainbow post. I'm not sure why CDs have the ability to do this, other than the grooves of information on them must bounce light off in certain ways and absorb the spectrum in other ways which produces the rainbow. That's as technical as I can get! Nice shot and definitely a solid abstract!
Those rainbows are awesome. I don't know what a CD would do that either, but wow what a photo it makes. Love the drops of water there too. You're getting so creative!
