Pylon by fishers

Pylon

Something slightly different today - a different view of an electric transmission pylon.

I went to the village of Poppleton, north-west of York, this morning and discovered a new permissive footpath beside the River Ouse and across Poppleon Ings. I can't resist a new footpath, so I went along it to see what there was to see. A line of pylons cross the area, and I thought this view would be something a little different from any of my previous shots, so here it is.
Great shot....I've been looking for an accessible pylon for ages. Hubby used to paint these beasts, so has had the alternative view....top to bottom...scary! !

@pixiemac

Thank you Sarah - we have lots of pylons in this area because there are several large power stations, but few are accessible enough to get this kind of shot. The place where this pylon was has only recently had public access, so I was pleased to find it. Not sure I would want to do a top down shot though!

@bobhuegel

Thank you Bob - the 132,000 volts in the cables put me off the idea of doing the top down shot!

@pyrrhula

Thank you Ferry - I avoided needing to lie down because the viewscreen on my camera will twist to help with this kind of shot.

Nia
Brings back memories of a photo course I did - the homework was recreating shots and 2 of the images I chose were pylon shots, 1 from underneath just like this. I love the geometric shapes.

@kjarn

Thank you Kathy - it's an idea I've wanted to try for a while - I just needed an accessible pylon!

Thank you Nia, it's interesting the different effects that you can get from below a pylon!
