We have had a lot of wet days recently, but last Friday was a beautiful sunny summers day, and I went for a walk along the banks of the River Ouse south of York. It's a long time since I did this walk, which is surprising considering how enjoyable it is.
Beyond the built-up area of the city, on the west bank of the river, are Nun Ings. This is a large area of grassland, subject to flooding when the river is high, and usually used as pasture land. Much of the northern part of this area was carpeted with buttercups, so here is my attempt to convey the beauty of it.
