First of all, thank you again for all the concern that you have shown for my mum in her recent hospital stay. Today she was discharged from hospital, with two outpatients appointments for next week, so we now need to sort out how we can get her to the hospital for them. She is feeling very tired but happy to be home.
One of her complaints about Christmas in Rotherham was that she had heard that there was only a single Christmas tree in All Saints Square, and saying how there used to be lots of Christmas trees decorated there. What she didn't know was that the ordainary trees there had also been decorated and created a very effective display. This shot shows less than half of the trees that have been decorated. One day after visiting the hospital in the afternoon I spent an hour wandering around taking photos of the lights, before returning to the hospital for an evening visit.
This square is now a very pleasant open paved space in the centre of the town. It was once very different, when it used to be where many of the local bus services started from. In the 1970s a new bus station was built nearby and the whole square pedestrianised, allowing the present layout to be created.
I hadn't seen you around 365 for some days, now I know why. Hope everything is ok now. Beautiful street shot; love the Christmas lights on the trees - pity nobody is around to enjoy them.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I spoke to my mum on the phone last night and she is pleased to be home, although she is very tired. We are encouraged by her progress. She sends her thanks for all your kind wishes.
