It is nice to see the swans back on Rawcliffe Lake. The breeding pair were removed a few years ago to the river as the lake was suffering a large influx of Canada Geese and the lake wasn't big enough to sustain them all.
The swans seem to have moved back and have a cygnet with them. This is the first time I have been able to get near enough to take a picture.
Swans are such graceful birds and seem to be as happy in freshwater as in sea harbours, like Ramsey, Isle of Man. As a child I thought their eyes were the black markings on the beak! How encouraging that 'your' swans have returned with a cygnet. There's a Swannery at Abbotsbury in Dorset which is a most interesting day out.
Thank you for your lovely comments and favs. They are both very appreciated. I really missed seeing the swans on the lake and am so pleased they are back. Katharine

Thank you Ferry. I have written some memories and try to keep a diary of events. At the moment I am writing some of the things my grandma told me, and some of dads life story. Katharine
