Walking around with my eyes closed

I don't know how many times I've walked past York Minster - probably hundreds, if not thousands - but I've never before noticed the small sundial above the south door which can be seen at the bottom centre of this image.

It's amazing how much detail there is in the building. Even places that can't easily be seen contain incredible carvings. Close to the south door is an open air workshop where new carvings are created to replace badly eroded pieces, and it's a fascinating process to watch.

When I walk in the inner city I alway`s look upstairs to the first and second floor of the shops. Often the original building is still there to discover. Great find and shot of those beautiful details..

@seattlite @dide @stevepam @sarah19 @pyrrhula Thank you all for your comments and favs. The Minster is an amazing structure. I must have taken hundreds of shots of it over the years, but there are still new inspirations there. @pyrrhula you are quite right, looking up at buildings does reveal a lot about them. In the Minster's case there is just so much to see.
