Skipwith Village by fishers

Skipwith Village

The village of Skipwith is old. It was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Some stonework in the church is believed to be Saxon in origin, and there are signs of work from many subsequent periods, including some lovely modern stained glass. A triangular green with a large pond can be found at the east end of the Main Street, and it was close to here that the bus dropped me at the start of my walk.

beautiful reflections here - it's a surprisingly long way south of York (having looked - I know the north slightly better)

Nice reflections, and always good to get a bit of history. We've spent a fair few holidays "up north" but mainly in the Dales and York itself.

Beautiful capture and angle to this shot with the trees leaning towards each other. Lovely reflections too. The place looks so peaceful.

Thank you all for your comments and fav, they are appreciated.

There are some lovely views of the pond, but I chose a bad day for getting shots, since workmen were busy resurfacing the road to the right of this shot, and builders were working on a property to the left. Still that gives another good excuse to visit again!
