As well as photos of the Light Night Leeds event, I took the opportunity while in Leeds to get a few night shots of some of the interesting architecture in the city centre. This shot shows County Arcade.
The County Arcade was built between 1898 and 1904, designed by the theatre architect Frank Matcham. It was notable for glazed barrel roofing decorated with copious amounts of faience from the Burmantofts Pottery, a number of mosaics and plentiful use of marble. Matcham's development also included the Cross Arcade and the Empire Theatre and all three constructions were in the same style.
Great architecture shot It reminds me , and looks like, a street in my birthtown The Hague : the `` Passage``. A very famous historical street. Fav. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhX2BnaItXM
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated, and they put this shot on the Popular Page.
Somewhere in my book collection there is a booklet about the lanes and arcades of Leeds. I really need to fid it and explore some more of these attractive arcades.
@gardenfolk@kjarn Thank you both. I've found my booklet about the lanes and arcades of Leeds, so it looks like a winter project to get photos of some of them, although from what I remember this is the most impressive one.
@vignouse@vesna0210 Thank you both for your lovely comments. I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond, but I've been rather distracted with Katharine having a stay in hospital.
