Mute Swan by fishers

Mute Swan

Another shot from a daily exercise walk around Rawcliffe Lake in York, and on this walk I spotted this mute swan.

In many ways I was quite surprised to see it. For a while the swans were driven away from this site by the large numbers of Canada and Graylag Geese that seemed to take over for a while. Geese numbers are much lower now and there were very few to see on this walk - perhaps they have found a new home.

He's a beauty. I'm glad they didn't get crowded out as they are lovely birds. Now that you've said it, there do seem to be more swans than Canada geese by me too. Lovely detailed shot.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

I've only seen one swan on the lake so far. I'm hoping there is a second and that we might see cygnets before too long.
