On the east side of Rawcliffe Lake in York, people have started placing painted stones beside the footpath in a long snake that is slowly extending towards the north side of the lake. Some are obviously the work of quite young children, while others are quite intricate pieces of adult painting.
I liked these two with their rainbow theme, and I very much echo the 'Thank you NHS' (National Health Service) sentiment on the right hand stone, with all the marvellous work done by so many staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are looking forward to seeing more stones added to the display in coming days.
Thank you all for your lovely comment and fav, they are very much appreciated.
Although many of the stones are painted with pro NHS themes, others mark the work of other essential workers, or are not linked to the Covid-19 crisis at all. It's another fun event which is lifting the spirits during the crisis.
A wonderful idea and I know it will catch on fast. we're so thankful to our essential workers. people have signs outside their homes or on windows etc.- even some on their cars. fav.
@bruni It is a lovely idea for people to become involved with and all ages can join in. At the beginning of the crisis many children painted rainbows to put in their windows.
@vignouse You are so right Richard. We have seen a massive increase in people providing support for others, but at the same time others have gone to tourist places like Malham and left their rubbish (and worse) behind, despite the lockdown. It is nice to be able to concentrate on the good.
