More temporary seating in the heart of York, with these high back seats in Parliament Street and their impressive backs with images of York on them.
I can't help but wonder how people who have sight problems or who are in wheelchairs cope with the drastic changes to various areas of the city centre. Not only has the layout changed, but in places there isn't a lot of space between the new features. There is quite a lot of space around these seats, but other features are rather cramped in their layout.
We are entering a new area, and unfortunately, they do not think of everything - obviously new people are in the design work and they do not have the knowledge
I like the innovative idea of using the back of the seat to show off the city. Lovely benches to sit on though I'm not sure how comfortable the back is if it is 90 degrees with the seat.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
It seems I could be justified by my concerns about disability access. By coincidence, last night Lucy posted a link to a disability newspaper article on her Facebook, and I shared some of the changes being made in York. One of her friends who is in a wheelchair then commented how hard it is for her to negotiate some parts of York city since the changes.
