This shot was taken by Louise, and shows part of her spider plant, which has just flowered for the first time.
Chlorophytum comosum, usually called spider plant but also known as spider ivy, ribbon plant, and hen and chickens is a species of perennial flowering plant. It is native to tropical and southern Africa, but has become naturalized in other parts of the world. There are said to be 65 varieties in southern Africa.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated. Louise will be thrilled when she hears how popular her picture has been.
Louise enjoys her gardening, and they have some interesting things growing in their garden. A great source of photo opportunities!
Thank you Lizzy - It seems Louise is in a minority in having seen a spider plant in flower. I certainly haven't. Thank you too for the favs on some of our other recent shots. We are doing OK after what has been a difficult few months with Covid-19. We were close to having all restrictions lifted but a new variant has led to an increase in cases, so that is delayed. Fortunately both Katharine and I have had two vaccinations so should be well protected. We will be seeing our youngest daughter tomorrow for the first time in 10 months, and meeting her son for the first time, so we have a lot to look forward to. How are you? I hope things are OK, and that you haven't had too many problems with Covid-19. It is lovely to hear from you!

I don't think Louise knew either - she was as surprised as anyone to see the flowers!
