Katharine and I had a walk to Rawcliffe Bar Country Park after lunch. Much of the park is wet and boggy, and there are works to create a new flood bank across the centre of the park.
Not a lot of inspiration for photos there, so we walked back past Rawcliffe Lake, where there were some very nice reflections on the still water. My attention was caught by this fisherman, so here he is. I've never really understood why anyone would want to sit beside water like this for long periods. The maximum temperature today was 5C, and by the time this shot was taken it would have been cooler, so it couldn't have been very comfortable sitting there. I prefer to be active, and walking at least kept us warmer!
Very nice shot and reflections. One has to be very dedicated to spend hours fishing in any weather and sitting there without moving in the cold must be much worse.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
There are no facilities here for the fishermen - they even have to bring their own seat and rod stands, and I believe they have to buy a license to fish.Though I've seen fishermen here quite frequently, I've never seen one caught that is large enough to cook and eat - it's quite fortunate that there is a fish and chip shop quite close to here that sells beautiful battered fish that are a much quicker meal for those like me that are less patient than the fisherman!
