I spent some time sat in the nave of Selby Abbey, looking around at the remarkable details of the building. These are four of the details that I particularly liked.
Top left - knot work on a pillar capital.
Top right - roof boss.
Bottom left - zig-zag pattern of part of an early Norman arch.
Bottom right - another example of knot work on a pillar capital.
So much intricate detail, with many many more examples throughout the building, and yet many of the details are hardly noticed when people visit this wonderful building.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Churches are incredible repositories of art and sculpture, as well as their role in the faith of those who attend services. This collage is just a small glimpse of the beauty of one of our lovely churches.

Thank you both - the detail in the carved stonework of some of our churches never ceases to amaze me.
