Sometimes we can get caught up with love, our relationships and the passion we feel for each other that we can’t see beyond our relationships. When we say or do ridiculous or crazy things because of love that are so much out of our natural character, it doesn’t mean that we are mentally imbalanced or desperate. Who has not done anything crazy because of love. We simply have different degrees of expressing our insecurities, our love, our frustrations and disappointments. Love is such a powerful emotion that makes us feel inspired, insecure, stable and unsure. It’s how we use these feelings that will determine the kind and quality of relationships we have and who we are as individuals.
Love is a simple contradiction that is so hard to understand. It has these invisible strings that make us puppets to the needs of our partners. And sometimes, it becomes too late before we realize that the problem with our relationships is not our partners but us. How often have we chosen to remain silent inspite of growing disappointments and frustrations? How often do we keep to ourselves our negative emotions? How often do we say nothing to promises broken and commitments that are never lived up to? Often, we choose to ignore what seems to be petty misunderstandings or relationship issues that point to a bigger relationship problem in the future.
If one chooses to tolerate a lover’s attitude or habit because of love, fear of losing that person or fear of what others may think of you, then be ready to accept the consequences of your silence. When you talk to your boyfriend about expectations you want from him, his consistency in action is your responsibility. If somehow he goes back to the way he was, it is your responsibility to call his attention. Changing one’s self or a trait is so hard to do by yourself. You will need someone to remind and inspire you. It’s like bad breath, you are the last person usually to know that you have it before someone tells you.
