Went for a drive to the Hopkin's River Mouth to see what was happening today. I have been going there over the past two months watching the saga of the river mouth. It has been closed for awhile and then machine opened to allow the eels out. However mother nature keeps interfering and closing it again. It has been manually opened 4 times now (according to a local fisherman) and today (bottom right photo) it is closed again! Maybe we need a good storm to open it again :)
# Thanks all for great comments on my whale sighting. You will be pleased to know she is still there today. And hopefully I'm well enough to go to Melbourne tomorrow for the ballet :)
@gigiflower No Cinderella - and it's supposed to be very different to the original but spectacular :) @quietpurplehaze You'd be quite safe here Hazel as the main beach is to the right and is about 5 kms to the breakwater. Then on the left side of the river you head off to Logan's Beach where the whales are - and that goes on for many many kms!
That river really can't make its mind up. I'm sure there will be a nice winter storm to fix it soon.
Also I went to the movies tonight and saw a preview for a movie called Oddball. It really looked like it was shot in Warrnambool. Have you heard of it? It has Sean Jacobson in it.
@karlow75 Have I heard of it Kane! i was an extra in it!!! Well that's if I made the cut :) Back in March last year I posted several shots from the making of the movie - they were here for about 2 weeks. We are all being invited to a special screening of it soon! Then I'll know :)
@gilbertwood that's fantastic. I hope you made the cut. When I saw the island in the preview I nearly stood up in the theatre and yelled, "that's Warrnambool".
@karlow75 I'm so pleased that Warrnambool has left such a wonderful happy image for you :) And the story is about the Mareemas on the island who protect the penguins - and it's a true story about the crazy guy who breeds the dogs!
@peterlgrave It's not purely for the eels Peter. The river banks up and comes close to flooding our beautiful old boathouse so that is also an indicator when it may need help in opening :)

Enjoy Cinderella.

Hope you make it to Melbourne in one piece. Stay away from any viruses.
