Then a whale appeared between the swells!

While photographing the crazy 2 surfers, I quickly spotted the southern right whale way out to sea. All this is from the Logan's beach lookout where these whales often come to have their calves. This year only one whale has been spotted and she is very elusive!

Super. That's the only type of whale I've ever seen in the wild. Saw them in Argentina many years ago. So impressive.
