2.29 pm: Another canal shot - I couldn't help myself as it looked so beautiful in the winter sun. This is the Rapenburg, one of Leiden's most beautiful canals. It's very near our home and I pass this bridge virtually every day.
wow, ive fav'd this, it's really beautiful. the lighting and colours on the right are brilliant, and the reflectons make it look really peaceful and lovely. nice work.
Beautiful. I love your canal shots - having no canals in my life I like to look at yours. Great reflections in this one, I especially like the spikey bridge railing reflections.
I like this shot. I makes me even more excited about our visit. We will arrive in Amsterdam on the 7th of April. We will only be in the Netherlands for 5 days. Then back to Copenhagen where my grandmother was from.
The Netherlands seem so far away but so picturesque. It looks like a beautiful place through your camera eyes! The point of view and perspective on this photo are amazing and I really like how you captured the reflections. Nice!
@sparkle@shantwin Thank you, and I agree that our canals are absolutely lovely.
@potsbypam@deniseescovino Thank you both! The Netherlands are a small but definitely special and beautiful country :)
@flygirl Will you only visit Amsterdam or do you have other plans in the Netherlands as well? Leiden (my town) is only 30 minutes by train from Amsterdam.
@andycoleborn I know, our two countries are so close and yet I haven't visited the UK since the late 90s, even though I love it.
@polarvrtx@geertje@araminta I decided to take this shot in the first place because I liked the contrast between light and shadow so much.
@lislee75 Thanks, yes I am very lucky to live where I live!
@liannemetter Thank you, the pink car was a nice extra! :)
@clarissajohal Thanks! It's a beautiful spot so it'd be actually hard to take an awful shot of it :) @islawight Yeah, isn't it amazing how that came out? @stepheesue Thanks so much, also for fav'ing! :) @jenrobcarr Thanks so much Jennifer! @flygirl Leiden and Haarlem are excellent choices! They are quite similar towns though (with Leiden being the more beautiful of course ;)). For something completely different you could try Rotterdam (50 minutes by train from Amsterdam), which boasts a lot more modern architecture and is a very dynamic town. But I don't know if that's your thing. I forgot to say that Copenhagen is lovely as well! Great atmosphere, beautiful architecture :)
@flygirl If you do decide to go to Rotterdam: there are some marvellous museums in Rotterdam, e.g. close to the Erasmus bridge. Amazing architecture there as well. Witte de Withstraat (a street) and its surroundings are recommended for small independent stores, galleries and restaurants. I checked for you and Rotterdam is actually an hour by train from A'dam.
Wow thanks Judith. An hour is still very doable. I appreciate you telling me all this. We have bought books to read on what to see, but didn't get the info you just gave me on Rotterdam. I will be posting my pictures from out visit when we are there so stay tuned. :-D
plus i like the pink car in the corner haha

@gijsje @lakruijf Ja, dat viel me ook meteen op, die tegenstelling tussen zon en schaduw!
...I just accidentally deleted your comment on my photo. I'm SO sorry. :(
