One of the more interesting (and photogenic) things that they had at the Mystic Aquarium were art pieces that were basically made up of repurposed sea trash. they were all made with things that had washed up on various beaches. All over the aquarium there were interesting sculptures and sea creatures made entirely of flotsam and/or jetsam. This was my favorite, a sea lion - they even got the look in his eye right... There were also jellyfish and the seal that you can see in my last picture - as well as a giant recreation of whale ribs that you could walk through made entirely of bottles. Now, frankly, I think it is absolutely criminal that there is so much garbage floating around in the oceans. But I do think it is great that there are people out there who are so creative that they can make such beauty out of such a bad situation!
