Children of Al Arroub refugee camp

We were at a reunion today for the folk that travelled with us to Palestine in October. it was so good to be reminded of all that we saw and encountered and to remember the lovely people in such troubled circumstances. These two obliging young girls, smile through the razor wire as they are entertained by the manoeuvres of the out of place tourist bus in the camp.
That's a beautiful photo telling a very sad story... The combination of her pretty, smiling face, right behind the barbed wire is most evocative... Even down to the colour of her top... Such innocence. Beautiful focus, amazing capture. Fav.

How sad to see such lovely children framed by razor wire. The smile on the one on the left denotes an indomitable spirit, I think. Fav for me. That must have been an unforgettable trip.

Quite an emotional image! My eyes keep going back to that beautiful smile and her hand on the railing . . . conveys optimism and determination. Fav.

@helenacharles @tristansmum @gaylewood @rosiekind @daisyditch I am so glad you could all see the sadness and the messages behind this photo. I have lots more and I am going to really enjoy sorting them and processing them. It was indeed an unforgettable trip, to a land that draws one back despite everything.
