The photograph is a diversion from what I was supposed to be doing. At work, and trying to create some marketing material for the charity for which I work. It is such a thankless task, taking pictures of people in a training session or getting any sort of composition of chatting over coffee at break. For me they never work - I have neither the equipment nor skills on board to deal with the lighting conditions.
Speaking of lighting - it was so difficult not to be diverted by the lighting and other architectural features, as this was my first time inside the newly converted Quarry Theatre in Bedford. Once a Moravian church, now a performing arts centre I was so impressed that I looked up and sent one of my rare tweets to the architects. Thereupon, I found that they have just won the RIBA East award for 2016.
The other diversion was a newly formed charitable group that I learned about called - Diversion. They are working in care homes and especially with dementia sufferers to create social and activity groups - once an integral part of provision, now lost in cuts. Great work, Diversion; shame on the cuts.
This is a very frustrating picture Helen as I can't quite see hoe the lights are suspended or if they are individual or a set. Your photo is quite abstract.
@paulmann I'm sorry Paul. I am in abstract mode at the moment and forget it can be confusing if you are actually interested in the structure! There are three individual lights, each suspended by a thin metal rod. The central black rod that you see in the picture is part of a strengthening structure and llnks to a horizontal beam underneath. I deliberately lined these up in my shot so that there was only one vertical line. Hope that eases your frustration.
@naomi I have just been reading some of your posts. You are doing a great job. I work for an infrastructure support charity - we advise on funding, governance, volunteering etc to all charities in the county. So I get to meet some wonderful people doing great work in the community.
@helenm2016@taffy@bobsblips thank you for commenting - to be honest, I didn't intend this as an abstract but that is the way it leant itself once I saw what I captured.
picture number 10 shows the doghnut lighting seen from the opposite end at floor level. Sorry if too much information.
I love this shot, which charity do you work for? I've been doing so much marketing stuff lately!
