When we first moved to Bedford, we used to find Lurke St such a funny name and we would joke about lurking around there (simple minds, young and care free). This car park has never before struck me as photogenic but it is amazing what a bit of blue sky can do and as the sun took a shine on us again today in Bedford, off I went to retake the photo that was deleted in error earlier this week. I was genuinely lurking around, but admittedly in Gadsby street rather than Lurke street around the corner.
Not one of Bedford's treasures in the least but I like the strong lines so thought I could make a composition of it.
Make the most of this by viewing on Black if you have the inclination
@ivan Thank you for the references Ivan. Did I ever let on that I studied architecture at university? I don't see Lurke Street Car Park on the list of notable brutalist architecture but then again it is rather in the nature of a car park to be brutalist. This one is much like any other. Thank you so much for your interest.
@dizzyd thanks Helen. As I said - it is the blue sky that makes it look interesting. Quite an eyesore really - as any other car park (although I have seen much worse).
Strong lines indeed, and your angle with that triangular bit of blue makes the photo all the more appealing! I also love the way you think about Lurke St / lurking ;)
