fresh and ready to fall by helenhall

fresh and ready to fall

I am enjoying the late Summer sun and the breeze outside (although the office temperature is quite unbearable). The changes to Autumn march on despite the deception of the heat.

This conker was spotted on on a white horse chestnut tree in Russell Park this morning - the sun shining upon it. The tree was planted as a memorial to Anne Frank in 2000. I wondered why this was an appropriate memorial and after a bit of digging found this:

In her diary, Anne mentions the horse chestnut tree that she can see from her attic window several times. On the 23rd Febuary 1944, six months before her secret hideout was discovered:

"From my favourite spot on the floor, I look up and see the blue sky and bare chestnut tree on whose branches little raindrops shine, appearing like silver, and the seagulls and other birds as they glide on the wind. When I looked outside and into the depth of nature and God, I was happy, really happy."

@fotoblah @evalieutionspics @janemartin @onewing @onewing thank you, I guess the colour is at its best when the conker is freshly opening and the sunlight is upon it.

Lovely rich colour and detail. I just think the leaf on bottom left needs to be darkened a tad to keep the focus on the conker! Well done!
