Cambodia: construction workers by helenhall

Cambodia: construction workers

Hello everyone! I'm back from my holidays and planning to upload one from each day as I work through them.

We arrived in Phnom Penh after over 30 hours travelling, and had the rest of the day to wonder around, try to stay awake and orientate ourselves. What a culture shock! Staying alive was the objective of the day - amidst the most chaotic and crowded traffic I have ever encountered. So, little to offer in the way of photography. Took this on a street corner. It is atypical of what we encountered in general because all of the workers here have hard helmets! The Capital has many construction projects underway, mostly being undertaken by young men in flip flops and without helmets, clambering over bamboo scaffolding.

Whist we had an amazing time on holiday, it has been a big challenge for me photographically - and perhaps a bit of a set back in my enthusiasm. Hopefully, by making the most of what I do have, and posting, I can re-orientate myself and decide on my next steps. Suffice to say, for now, that my camera is full of dust and most of my photographs are going to require an amount of editing to compensate.

Bear with me, there is better to come, I am sure!
Good to see you back again and hope you had a really super holiday. Glad you found some workers wearing hard hats. Health and safety isn't a huge thing in this part of the world is it.

Look forward to seeing the photos of your travels.

Good to see you back. It sounds like you were immediately immersed into this different world immediately. Glad they are wearing their hard hats and looks like they're having a good old chat before starting work.

glad you are home safe and sound Helen. I have often found it hard to decide what to photograph in such a different culture. You are so bombarded with sight and sounds but I am sure you will find some real gems amongst your many photographs
