I used these weeds and grasses growing where there should be a busy and vibrant community in the heart of Bethlehem, to half obscure the separation wall. But what once was a big grand hotel nearby is now deserted - hardly surprising as it enjoys the sounds of gun fire and rubber bullets and the atmosphere is filled with tear gas on a regular basis.
Here in Bethlehem, this part of wall has been turned into a museum, with everyday stories of life under occupation posted all around. There is a sombre and quiet atmosphere as those who have made it to the West Bank read and absorb and wonder, why?.
@flowerfairyann as ever there are plenty of lessons to be learned through nature. Thank you Ann @kwind thanks Kim. @nicolecampbell thank you Nicole - most of the unusable patches of land near the wall are used as dumping grounds, but here, the fresh spring grasses were dominant. So yes, an unusual calmness prevailed @pdulis cheers @taffy in my view, the green wins and has its healing properties @onewing well yes - too many such scenes in Palestine but this one has some gentleness about it @ivan I guess the spring is the most optimistic time of year to visit @wag864 thanks kas. I'm jest telling it as I saw it. Others will say differently.
