So I have spent time thinking about inventions this week, and of all the life changing and clever inventions that I could have chosen, I have opted for the simple loaf of bread. Nothing beats the pure, simple, gratifying satisfaction of freshly baked bread - and when feeling extravagant - a generous covering of butter.
My favourite comes from the Companions Real Bread shop in Bedford. At the old fire station, they have created a bakery and formed a collective that works with ex-offenders offering them skills and a step-up into the workplace. My Friday treat is to pick up one of their freshly baked multi-seeded sourdough loaves. Puts a smile on my face for the weekend.
Looks absolutely delicious! The Companions Real Bead shop certainly has a sound philosophy behind not only the making of bread but also positively supporting all members of your local community. I enjoyed checking out their website online and would definitely enjoy visiting their shop for some bread and a cup of coffee. :-)
I can smell it from here. It looks so delicious Helen and a lovely treat for you for the weekend. It must be a joy to go into the shop and smell all that freshly baked bread. Mmm, getting hungry now!.
