Of course, story tellers always use a bit of exaggeration or artistic license to make their point, and it would seem that I am no exception. The date stamp on this meadow brown would indicate that I found it just five minutes after the wild angelica shot. All I can say, in my defence, is that this lady butterfly was only around for a few seconds before the weather took a sudden turn for the worse and I started to regret my choice of summer clothing. Perhaps too, she had had some of her colour washed away since when I look up pictures of her to be sure of the identification, they would indicate a much brighter and more cheerful orange colouring around the false eye.
