American Bittern

It's very hard to see this bird and the first time I have seen it at the refuge. It hides in the reeds and as you can see, it is well camouflaged. Not as well defined as I would like because he blends in.

Lovely capture! When I spotted Curlews in a field as I was driving by, I was a bit annoyed with them for being so well camouflaged.They blended SO well with the field they were in that it's a surprise I saw them at all!
