19 years 1 month and 25 days. Mia had been in poor health the last several months but had held up until the last week when her challenges were just too much for her.
We said goodbye to a member of our family today. She was warm and loving to the end even as she was failing -- spending what we all knew were the last days cuddling and sleeping before she headed off on the next stage of her journey this afternoon.
Mia is the last of six over a stretch of almost 40 years and by far the most intelligent, personable, loving, and friendly cat I have ever met. I miss her.

Looking to return in 2023
After a three year hiatus (and three previous years on project without a miss) I am...
What a lovely portrait of Mia. She lived to a good age and so you have many years of happy memories to help you in this time of sadness. Condolences and hugs to you and family.
I'm so sorry for you and your family Jay. It is always amazing that even though our pets are ailing they give us that unconditional love. Such a heart wrenching loss to lose them.
We said goodbye to our Sheba on the 12th. She was a little over 18...a Red Point Siamese. Like your Mia, her failing health had become an overwhelming burden for her. Like you, we have an empty space we are now trying to adapt to. I am so sorry for your loss.
This is a beautiful portrait of her.
