Eye see you

Love the battered wings of this Blue Morpho just showing the beautiful blue inside, and the 'eyes' leading downwards.
Terrific capture!

Beautiful. Looks like he barely escaped something somewhere along the way! Lovely detail.

I'm so jealous! This species of butterfly surely has one of the starkest contrasts between its upper and lower wing patterns! I followed a few with a 7-year old girl recently, but even in a zoo environment, I couldn't capture its upper wings at rest.

@rhoing You'd have loved it where we were Thom, it was a butterfly garden in Scotland and there were lots of these and many of them were quite often at rest. I got a couple of the blue inner but they were quite blurred.

@jesperani Yeah, I got a blurred one, too ( http://rhoing.posterous.com/detroit-zoological-park#BlueMorpho), but in the end, it was just a totally awesome experience. I had fun meeting a 7-year old and her grandpa. In fact, he gave me a business card and I'm sending him some shots to remember his visit to the zoo with his oldest grandchild.
