Gates of Heaven

This wasn't the shot I planned for today, but as it turned out, I really didn't care for anything I found at my primary location. On my way back to work I stopped at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery and took a "safety shot". Now, I normally do cemetery shots in black and white, and that's what I started doing this time around as well. Playing around with it, though, I started to develop what you end up seeing here, and I really liked the effect.

Post processing was pretty complex this time around. The primary effect, after adding a bit of contrast in Topaz, was produced using a Find Edges filter and using a hard light blend mode, The sky was blended using a Gaussian blur at a 20 pixel radius. From there it was a series of levels, photo filters, and a couple of saturation adjustments. The texture was produced with a bright yellow layer and a grain texture blended with an overlay blend mode at 50%. It really was a matter of constantly adjusting the various levels and saturation to get the final effect.
Interesting effect! I like how this turned out.
