Well, okay, they're technically pink, but "Pink Rain" doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Besides, as a guy, I'm only allowed to recognize the colors that come in a box of 8 Crayola Crayons. So "Purple Rain" it is. This shot wasn't quite planned, but while out for my daily walk I spotted these flowers blooming by the side of the road. The recent rain added some drops to the petals, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out the macro function of my 24-70 lens. What I didn't count on was a pretty steady wind. Getting these flowers to sit still for a moment was quite the challenge! Still, I'm pleased with the way the lens performed, and while I could have hoped for a deeper green background, the shot was pretty much as anticipated.
Post processing was again kept to a minimum. A Topaz Adjust Photo Pop filter sharpened the edges a bit, and I followed that up with a standard high pass filter in soft light blend mode. I adjusted the levels ever so slightly. No hue or saturation adjustments were added since I wanted to retain the true color of the flowers.
