Heywood Farm

Roadside farm stands, like this one in front of Heywood Farm on Atwood Avenue in Johnston, are making a tremendous comeback in Rhode Island. Fresh, locally grown, seasonal vegetables are increasingly in demand. When you compare the flavor and quality of the crops produced by our local farms with those commercially grown and shipped from Central America, it's easy to understand why. While native corn, tomatoes, and zucchini may only be available for a limited time in late summer, their quality and robust flavor are well worth the wait. This farmstand is open daily from about noon to five in-season, and it's refreshing to obtain fresh produce that was hand picked in the last 24-hours, and transported a hundred yards from the farm as opposed to something forced to ripen on a truck as part of a 2500 mile journey from Guatemala.

Post processing for all four images started in Topaz Adjust. I applied a brilliant cold filter to each of them, and adjusted the dynamic lighting, contrast, detail, and strength. In PSE, I added a slight level adjustment, and then produced the collage. Each photo was individually layered. I used a 15 pixel white border on each image to produce the separation you see before you.
Very nice collage - gives it a nice story feel!

Nice capture. Not only are there produce stands everywhere around here right now, many houses have tables in the front yard with cheap or free zucchini!
