Commuter Parking by kannafoot

Commuter Parking

There are several colleges located in the downcity area of Providence. Now that both the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Johnson & Wales are in session, this railing between two buildings on South Main Street has turned into a commuter parking lot for the students. Bicycles are a very viable means of transportation in the city and, with gas hovering close to the $4 mark, area students make heavy use of this cost-effective alternative. It will be interesting to see how this trend continues through a Rhode Island winter, but I'm not about to underestimate the resourcefulness of the local college students. I expect we'll see bikes on this railing right through winter.

Post Processing was entirely in Topaz Adjust. I started with a simple pop filter. From there the adaptive exposure, contrast, and adaptive saturation sliders were adjusted. Since I shot with a 16mm lens, there was a pretty distinctive parallax effect to the building, so I adjusted the skew in PSE and then cropped to the image you see here.
Love this shot
