This is the entrance to the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium at Roger Williams Park in Providence. The sky was a dull grey and the light was completely flat, so I was looking for a high contrast building for a nice b&w today. This one fit the bill perfectly. Built in 1896 it now houses a collection of over 250,000 specimens, of which only 2% are on display at any point in time.
Post processing today was all about drawing deep contrast and detail in the building. I started with a high contrast detailed filter in Topaz b&w Effects. From there I adjusted the contrast, brightness, boost black, boost white, and detail sliders. I also made slight adjustments to the adaptive exposure slider. The color sensitivity sliders were heavily adjusted to enhance contrast. In PSE I added a levels adjustment followed by a sepia photo filter.
