Lines and Shapes

I'm still on a quest to improve my black and white photography. I'm not overly pleased with the results here, but after going through several hours worth of multiple techniques, I decided to go with this one for today's shot. This was taken at Governor Notte Park in North Providence. Expect to see a lot more b&W since I'm bound and determined to get the proper technique down pat. The effect I'm trying to get in my b&w photography is a very high contrast with pure white and pure blacks on the extremes. I've come close on some photos, but have stumbled significantly on others - this one included.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz b&w effects. The adaptive exposure, boost black, boost white, and the various color sensitivity sliders were adjusted. I then brought it into Topaz Adjust and tweaked the adaptive exposure, contrast, and detail sliders. In PSE I applied a sepia photo filter and a levels adjustment.
