I was initially heading downcity for some street photography since the weather cooperated around lunchtime. On a whim, though, I hopped off at Gano Street and swung by India Point on my way to South Main Street. I spotted these two women with their dogs, having fun in the playground at India Point Park. Suffice it to say, that golden retriever was a bundle of energy. The other pup is a golden retriever / Australian terrier mix that is a rescue from Tennessee. As you can see from the motion blur, that goldie never stood still. Now, this is normally the type photo that I'd shoot from a kneeling position. That perspective when shooting people or animals is invariably more dynamic. Unfortunately, each time I knelt for a photo, I ended up with a face full of golden retriever tongue, so I finally resigned myself to a standing shot.
What's somewhat ironic is that I was asked on yesterday's photo why so many of my shots are black and white, and here we have a color shot the very next day. I was definitely laughing at (or with) the Lords of Cosmic Jest on that one. (Piers Anthony reference, for those that don't recognize the title.) Truth is, this shot did not work well in black and white. There's just not enough contrast in greyscale, and the four primary subjects get lost in the background. If they won't "pop" there's no point in doing the black and white.
Post processing started with a brilliant warm filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, and adaptive saturation. A slight levels adjustment was added in PSE.
