Without a specific subject in mind, I attached my 50mm prime lens and went downcity for some street photography. Walking along the waterfront, I saw the gentleman in the foreground taking this photo. Before they left, I asked if they'd mind recreating the scene so I could photograph him photographing her. They happily obliged, and the photo before you is the result. When I showed the photo to them afterwards, the young lady told me they were married yesterday, and this was a "sort of honeymoon" for them. They're holding off on their official honeymoon for warmer weather and after school ends so they can go someplace special. So it's fitting on this St. Patrick's Day to offer these happy newlyweds a traditional Irish blessing:
"May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, followed by adaptive exposure, regions, details, protect highlights, boost black, and boost white. A levels, brightness, and contrast adjustment were added in PSE and it was topped with a sepia photo filter at a 15% intensity. Note that a color version of this photo was also processed so I can send the happy couple both the color and the b&w image for their enjoyment.
