Vintage New England

Nothing says "New England" like an old fashioned white steepled Congregational Church. The one in this photo is the North Scituate Congregational Church, built in the center of this quaint New England village in 1831. The church yard contains a statue commemoration the Civil War soldiers from Scituate, and like most old New England churches, there is a large cemetery behind the building.

Post processing started with a warm tone II filter in Topaz B&W FX. I then adjusted color sensitivity sliders followed by adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. In PSE I applied a burn to the midtones and shadows on the statue, and applied a dodge to the statue's highlights. A sepia photo filter was added as the top layer.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-dJGRTHn/0/XL/2013%2003%2030_0022%20copy-XL.jpg
Lovely lighting and contrast on this beautiful old church... hope it is filled God's people tomorrow celebrating Easter!

Nothing could be a better subject for one of your crisp black and whites. And I like the inclusion of the shadow of the flag.
