Roadside Chapel

This small chapel, barely large enough to hold one person, was here long before I moved to North Providence in 1970. I've never been able to determine who built it or why they placed it here. I haven't seen the doors open in several years, which is unfortunate since there used to be an altar with candles inside that would be an interesting addition to the photo. Chapels like this are common in parts of Europe and Latin America, however it's rare to encounter one like this in the States. I'd love to get the details on its history.

I've been waiting to photograph this spot since last spring. There's a very brief period when the tree behind it has those beautiful pink blossoms, and I needed a bright sunlit day like today to really highlight their color. Having missed the opportunity last spring, I was fortunate to find just the right conditions today.

Post processing started with a brilliant warm filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
