East Side Tunnel by kannafoot

East Side Tunnel

Yesterday I featured the Trolley Tunnel as seen from the South Main Street entrance in downcity Providence. Today's photo shows the other end of the tunnel exiting on Thayre Street on the East Side of Providence. You'll notice that there are two entrances but only one exit. The tunnels merge under the city, and the buses rely on a single blinking caution light to signify that there is already a bus underground. Amazingly, I've never heard of an accident in the tunnel. The pedestrians in the photo are students from nearby Brown University. The campus borders Thayre Street, and the numerous shops and restaurants are packed with students year-round.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted adaptive exposure, color sensitivity sliders, regions, boost black, boost white, and contrast. A levels adjustment and sepia photo filter were added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-nSmCXNK/0/XL/2013%2007%2018_0022%20copy-XL.jpg
