Fall Picnic by kannafoot

Fall Picnic

The weather at lunch today was absolutely perfect. I went downcity planning to shoot a black and white skyline shot, however there were so many people out and about and the fall colors were starting to come in that I quickly abandoned that concept. Instead, I took about a half-dozen photos along the waterfront. Deciding which one to post for the photo-a-day was challenging! There were several that I really liked, however I finally opted for the one you see before you. The bikes clustered in the foreground were a fun subject, but I also liked the people at the picnic tables in the background beneath the yellowing canopy of leaves. Of all the photos shot today, this is the one that I felt had the most interesting story to tell.

Post processing started with a simple pop filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, and contrast. I added a levels adjustment in PSE and then lowered the saturation just a bit.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-ctKCqxW/0/XL/2013%2010%2003_0022%20copy-XL.jpg

Thanks, Ron, for the follow. I think I will learn a lot from you. We love riding bikes, so I chose this photo to comment on. We just returned from Boston, and we have a Boston album. The first photo, Sep. 30, is from a Red Sox game.
