Afternoon in the Park

Again wanting to play around with the 16-35mm, I went to Roger Williams Park in Providence at lunch. Driving past the Temple to Music - seen in this photo - I spotted this group of people lounging around in front of the beautiful marble structure. I decided it would make an interesting scene to capture with the wide lens, especially since I wanted the attention to be on the group in front. I wasn't looking for a broad panorama. The temple was mostly in shadow, which helped, since that marble is blinding when the sun hits it directly. Amazingly, none of the group had any reaction at all as I knelt close to them to take a series of photos from various angles.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A sepia photo filter and a levels adjustment were added in PSE.
