This is one of our two base chairlifts, waiting patiently for it's first customers of the season. Opening day is set for this Saturday now, but only the t-bar will be running as we still haven't had a big dump of snow that will be needed to open up more of the hill. Luckily this year the hill has 6 snowguns that have been making snow for the last month or so. These were bought by the new Legacy Training Center for ski racers to start their race training early. Without these there wouldn't have been enough snow for even the t-bar to operate.
I hear that its not just our mountain that is hurting for snow. The coastal BC mountains and also some European mountains are also delaying opening. It's crazy that over east they had such big snowstorms in November that they had as much snow in 3 days as they would normally get all year!
Beautiful shot with all that white and the red of the building! It looks like a London Post Box! The stream appears to be all frozen over so its cold enough but you need more than cold for snow! You must be very keen on skiing!
@maggiemae We do all enjoy skiing :) There isn't usually a stream there, however there must have been some leakage from the snowmaking machines and that water has pooled at the base of the chair and frozen over. Either that or the water came when we had a lot of rain and warmer temperatures last week.
