I happened upon a bee paradise today and spend quite a bit of time stalking bees. I took so many photos, it was hard to choose the best one. The angle on this one is a bit odd, but the details of the bee sucking up that nectar made it the winner for me.
How is it I've never noticed this sucking appendage on a bee before? This photo is awesome! Balint said it looks like a lion with the furry mane. Just amazing!
Robin, I've tried to master this photo for months too, and you impress me every day. Paula and Anne, that appendage is why I chose this photo! I've never seen it either and at first I thought it must be a stinger...but then I rethought that one. It took me about 50 shots to get this photo. No stings, either. They get annoyed, but just fly away, even if you are right on top of them. Terry, thank you!
The clarity and detail are great Laurie! I was trying today for a bee shot but I got too spooked that they were going to sting me and then I thought maybe this macro stuff isn't for me cuz I'm such a weinie. As a result I didn't even post today. And I've turned your whole page into my own therapy session. Feeling a bit better now actually. Thanks. :)))
That bee is a humdinger! You captured it so well! The eyes, the wings the sucker, the fur, the pose and the flowers all so spot on! @stepheesue good therapy session, glad you are discovering you macro sensitivity. I think you should come back tomorrow!
